Phoenix Rising Review

We're here at Busch Gardens Tampa to ride Phoenix Rising. A Family Inverted Coaster from B&M. And yeah. It does feel weird knowing that B&M has officially entered the family coaster market. I guess they saw how popular those Vekoma Family Inverts were, and wanted in on that action. So they made their own Family Inverted coasters. And.....once you get over seeing that big boxy track on a small family coaster layout, it turns out that B&M can make just as good of a family Invert as Vekoma and S&S. So yeah. This is the official family coaster of Busch Gardens Tampa. Let's get in the cars, pull down the lapbar, and we're off! We go around a turn and climb up the lifthill. It's a small ride, so there's not much of a view. Though there's still a nice view of the surrounding area. We soon reach the top, and head down. We dip down, before then curving left and dropping back down. I guess you could say that this first drop is more of a double down. Except without any of the crazy airtime associated with that element (yeah. I know this is a family coaster. But it's still a bummer). We then head into a banked turnaround. This provides us with some decent laterals for a family coaster, before dropping back down. We then head into a banked hill. If anything, this almost feels like a mini Stengal Dive. So for a family coaster, this is a cool element. We then go through a tiny little hop before going through a low to the ground banked hill turn. Nothing too crazy, but it's got a nice punch for a family coaster. We then go through a tiny little hill before turning and going into a small upward helix. We then go through another sharp banked turn before gliding into the brake run. And....yeah. This obviously isn't gonna compare to other B&Ms since....it's a family coaster. But as a coaster meant for kids and coaster wimps, this is a really solid ride to fill that gap. It's sort of like roller coaster training wheels to prepare you for riding Montu when you get bigger (or develop a tolerance for scarier coasters). And I honestly would say its just as fun as its Vekoma and S&S counterparts. If your someone who needs a family coaster, I'd argue that Phoenix Rising is a good one.
